Buy back a device
Buy a device you sold before back from a customer and put it on sale again.
Updated 30 September 2026
This guide shows you how to buy back a device you sold before, so you can sell it again. You need the Manage stock permission. Owners can always do this.
A buy-back is not a return. Use it when a customer sells you back a device, not when they bring back a faulty item under guarantee. For that, see Return an item.
Why buy back instead of adding the device again
Each IMEI can only be used once in your store. When you buy back, Inventra keeps the same device record. Its history then shows each step: sold, bought back, sold again.
Buy back a device
- Tap Devices and find the device by its IMEI, brand or model. It shows Sold.
- Open the device and tap Buy back.
- Check the top of the form. It shows the IMEI, who you sold it to, when, and for how much.
- Pick the Condition now, for example Second hand.
- In Paid to buy it back, type what you pay the customer.
- Check the Selling price. It starts at the old price. Change it to the new price.
- Add a Note if it helps, for example "Screen replaced, box missing".
- Tap Buy back.
The device is now Available again. You can sell it like any other device.
Tip: Started adding the device with Add device and saw that the IMEI was sold from your store? Tap Buy it back in the message under the IMEI. It opens this form.
What happens to the old sale
The old sale does not change. Its receipt stays as it was. The device cannot be returned on that old sale any more, because you now own it again.
Tip: Search the Devices page by IMEI to find the device quickly. You can also dial *#06# on the phone to see its IMEI.
